Pasadena Community Colleges

If you're looking to get out of a rainy, cold city for college, look no further than Pasadena. This city in southern California is only 15 minutes away from Los Angeles, and only 30 from the beachside city of Santa Monica, so you'll never be short of things to do. One downside of California is the cost of living, which is higher than in many other places, but you can save some money by attending of one of the great community colleges in the area.
  1. Pasadena City College

    • Pasadena City College, located at 1570 East Colorado Boulevard just off Foothill Freeway, is a large community college with a student enrollment of nearly 30,000. There are 60 academic programs, 76 career and technical programs and 25 "Lifelong learning" programs to choose from. Some classes are available during the days, in the evenings and on weekends. This college offers Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees, Certificates of Achievement and Occupational Skills Certificates.

    Glendale Community College

    • Located at 1500 North Verdugo Road in nearby Glendale, Glendale Community College is just 15 minutes west of Pasadena. Glendale CC has more than 42,000 students enrolled. In addition to appealing to students who want to earn college credit and transfer to a 4-year college, this college also appeals to about 10,000 others through the adult education and other specialized job training programs. You could earn an Associate's Degree, a Certificate of Completion or continuing education credit depending on the program you enroll in.

    Mount San Jacinto College

    • Mount San Jacinto College is located at 28237 La Piedra Rd in Menifee, about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Pasadena. You can enroll in a variety of programs, including vocational and technical programs as well as basic skills classes and English as a second language (ESL) training programs. Mount San Jacinto has an enrollment of 26,000 and offers Associate's Degrees, Certificates and Employment Concentration Certificates. Program topics include early childhood studies, business administration and green technologies among many others.

    Rio Hondo College

    • Rio Hondo College is located at 3600 Workman Mill Road in Whittier, about 30 minutes from Pasadena. This college has an enrollment of more than 20,000 each semester and serves students from a variety of educational backgrounds, including recent high school graduates, people seeking new skills or careers and lifelong learners. The college graduates close to 600 students every year and awards degrees in over 40 disciplines and certificates in close to 30 subjects. Something unique about Rio Hondo -- the college's Administration of Justice Program is the largest college-based program in the State of California.
