Take note of the classes you want to find your GPA for. You may want to know your GPA only for your major, so you will take down the grades of the classes that pertain to your major. This can also be done for your minor. You can find your cumulative GPA by including all of your classes in your calculations.
Record the letter grade you received for each course as well as the number of units (credits) each course is worth. For example, one class may be worth 3 units, while another may be worth 4. This information will be on your transcript and listed on the University's website under course information.
Record the point value for each letter grade. The school offers a list of point values for each letter grade. The list can be viewed on the University's website. For example, an A = 4.0 while a B- = 2.7.
For each class multiply the grade's point value by its number of units. For example, if you have an A in a class it is worth 4 units. You will multiply the number 4 (grade point) by 4 (number of units) to get 16. Record each product of multiplication for each class.
Add up all of your product results from step 4. If you wanted to find your GPA for 3 classes where you received an A, B and B- and each class was worth 3 units, your calculations would be the following:
(4X3) + (3X3) + (2.7X3) = 12 + 9 + 8.1 = 29.1
Divide the total sum of your grade point-unit calculations by the total number of units. To use the example from step five your calculations would be 29.1/9 = 3.23.
3.23 is your GPA.
