Your grade-point average (GPA) is the number that lets you know how well you are doing in school. At the end of each semester you are given your GPA to let you know how you did, but it is often helpful to know how you are progressing before the semester is complete. By knowing where you are currently, you can make adjustments in your studies to achieve your desired GPA. Calculating your own GPA requires knowing the grade you have received for each class and how many credit hours the class is assigned.
Instructions

1
Convert the grades for the classes you have completed this semester into their assigned numbers. Most colleges use the 4.0 scale; i.e., an A is 4.0, a B is 3.0, etc. (see Resources).
-
2
Multiply the credit hours for each class by the number grade and add all of your class grades to get your total grade points.
-
-
3
Divide the grade points by the total credit hours completed. This is your semester GPA.
-
4
Include all grades and credit hours from all your semesters to determine your cumulative GPA.
