List in a column all the classes you have completed. In a second column, list the grade you received for each course: A, B, C, D or F.
In a third column, list the points your earned for each grade. An A is worth 4 points, a B is worth 3 points, a C is worth 2 points and a D is worth 1 point. An F contributes 0 points.
List the credits you earned for completing each course in a fourth column. For instance, most lecture-only classes are worth 3 credits. Science courses requiring a laboratory session are usually worth 4 credits to account for the greater time required for the course. Many physical education or recreation classes earn 1 credit per class. Refer to your class syllabus or course catalog if you are unsure of how many credits you will earn for each class.
Add up all the points in the third column for a total amount of your earned grades.
Add up all the course credits earned or attempted in the fourth column.
Divide the sum of your grades by the number of credits you have taken. The resulting number is your GPA.
