The Queen Elizabeth II Aiming for the Top Scholarship is designed to encourage Ontario students to pursue affordable higher education.
Scholarships range in value between $100 and $3,500 and are based on a student’s financial need. Eligible students must be residents of Ontario and graduate from an Ontario high school with high academic achievements. Applicants must be full-time students attending an Ontario university or college of arts and technology in the school year during which the scholarships are awarded.
One characteristic that sets this scholarship apart is that it is renewable for up to four years of higher education, so long as the recipient maintains good grades and full-time status.
The Ontario Textbook and Technology grant is designed to help full-time students attending Ontario community colleges and universities pay for the textbook and computer costs related to their higher education.
The grant offers $150 per student to go toward the cost of textbooks and technology for the school year. Eligible applicants must qualify for a Canada-Ontario Integrated Student Loan (which shows financial need) and be attending a provincially assisted (community-based) university or college in Ontario.
The Ontario Student Opportunity Grant is designed to help students reduce their Canada-Ontario Integrated Student loan debt over the course of their college or university careers. The grant limits student debt to $7,000 for a two-year term and $10,500 for a three-year term.
Eligible students have to have debt from the Canada-Ontario Integrated Student Loan program that exceeds the limits set by the grant. Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time academic program for two or three years. Students who have defaulted on previous student loans, whose loan drops below the limits provided by the grant, or who reduce course load below full time will not be eligible for the grant.
