Brunel University, London maintains scholarships for under-represented groups including ethnic minorities and students from low income and low socio-economic backgrounds. To qualify, the student must be "one of the top two performers" in their school at the end of the first year of their degree course, and be in receipt of at least a 50% of the maintenance grant.
The Institute of Education at the University of London provides a course-related grant for under-represented groups studying at the University. The grant may be used to pay for part of the student's course fees, purchase books or a laptop, and pay for travel costs. The grant is open to a number of minority groups including ethnic groups and members of "under-represented groups" on whom the university is "concentrating" in the year of application.
The George Vinier Memorial Fund pays for university tuition fees and training courses for black and Asian students studying journalism. Applicants must be black or Asian students, British citizens and not receiving a student loan or any other form of sponsorship to cover the cost of the course they intend to study. Applicants must also have already been offered a place on the course in question.
