There are many grant opportunities for African-American students. The Lydia Donaldson Tutt-Jones Memorial Grant offers $3,000 to African-American graduate students doing research. While, the National Black Nurses Association offers grants to students enrolled in a four-year program. The American Institute of Public Accountants also offers grants and scholarships to minority students. The United Negro College Fund is the oldest and largest organization devoted to providing college funding for African Americans. It administers grants for 39 historically black colleges across the United States.

For Native American graduate students, first look into the American Indian Graduate Center. Since 1969, the center has awarded more than 15,000 scholarships and $44 million in awards. Graduate students interested in the performing arts, writing, and crafts can apply for the Elizabeth Furbur Fellowship. The AIGC fellowship provides grants of $1,000-$5,000 per academic year for graduate students.
