Illinois Grants for Graduate Students

As of 2006, the U.S. Census Bureau states that full-time graduate students receive an average of $12,081 of financial aid annually. There are more than 85 colleges and universities offering graduate degree programs in the state of Illinois, and many of the students attending these institutions are looking for funding either through federal, state, or private sources. Among financial aid options, grants offered by some of Illinois' largest graduate institutions do not need to be repaid.
  1. UIC College of Nursing Grants

    • The University of Chicago's College of Nursing provides several Biobehavioral Nursing Research grants for graduate students. These help pay for a training program designed to prepare researchers to study neurobehavioral and cardiopulmonary health. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, have earned either a master's or doctoral degree in nursing, and be enrolled or accepted to one of the college's doctoral programs. For either program, the student will be awarded a stipend and partial payment of tuition as well as travel and research-related expenses. The grant is eligible for renewal for up to three years. The college also offers many other financial-aid options like scholarships, fellowships, and assistantships for both underaduate and graduate students.
