    The Gates Cambridge Scholarship

    • Gates Cambridge Scholarships are offered through the Gates Cambridge Trust, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The scholarships have been available since 2000, when the Microsoft founder and his wife bequeathed more than $200 million dollars to the university. The application process is competitive--as is the university itself--and the award amount covers full tuition, roundtrip airfare, and a monthly stipend for up to 1 year. A student may also be granted financial assistance for dependants who may have accompanied him to the university. In order to qualify, a student must not be a resident of the UK, and must be pursuing a graduate level education. Current Cambridge students are ineligible, unless they are beginning a new program separate from the one in which they are enrolled. Potential students who are considered will be granted interviews prior to the decision making process.
