The McAlester campus of Eastern Oklahoma State College has two classroom buildings on its 17-acre campus. The buildings have 29 classrooms, 11 interactive classrooms with TV sets, two computer labs and a library. The university offers several programs for students pursuing a bachelor's degree including general studies, criminal justice, business, social work, human resources and education.

Kiamichi Technology Center is a technical college in McAlester. High school students can attend the school, earn college credits and gain career experience. The American Beauty Institute prepares students for their state-issued cosmetology licensing exam. The comprehensive program teaches students all areas of cosmetology including hair styling, hair cutting, chemical straightening, manicuring and massage. After learning the theories behind cosmetology, students practice what they've learned with customers in the school's salon.
