Grants for English Majors

The English departments of colleges and universities are the best place to search for scholarships and grants. Scholarships are often offered in honor of faculty and alumni. If your goal is to become an English major, take the scholarships they offer into consideration when you are deciding which schools to apply to, and investigate the types of financial awards that they offer. Some grants are renewable year by year, while others are intended for a specific research project. Some universities also offer talent awards. These are based on creative performance and evaluated by submitting samples of written work.
  1. University of Pennsylvania Research Grants

Applicants for the grant must 1) work under the supervision of a research director, 2) submit a 500--1,000 word proposal, and 3) submit a well-researched and itemized budget.
