Central American Scholarships

There are many educational scholarships available for Central American students, many of which are funded by institutions of higher learning. Financial assistance and other forms of support are offered to potential students at the undergraduate, graduate and professional level. These opportunities can sometimes determine whether or not a student from Central America will be in a position to attend college.
  1. Walton Scholarship Program

    • The Walton family of Bentonville, Arkansas provides educational scholarship opportunities at the Universities of John Brown, Harding and the Ozarks. Full scholarships are offered for seven Central American countries, including Belize, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, Mexico and Panama. Undergraduate study scholarship opportunities are offered during each academic year. For students accepted into the program, financial support includes tuition, fees, board, room, travel and a personal spending allowance, so that they may devote themselves full time to study. Students may reside in rooms in campus housing and may take advantage of meals from the school cafeteria.

    Zaragoza Logistics Center

    • The Zaragoza Logistics Center and Mundo Logístico (Editorial Fass, S.C.) awards full-tuition scholarships for Central American citizens who become qualified applicants for the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics & Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program. Aimed at those with industry experience, the program is open to anyone who meets entrance requirements. The scholarship does not cover living or travel expenses.

      The program involves performing research in Zaragoza, Spain. ZLOG aims to develop analytical and leadership skills which companies seek in the technological and international market. ZLOG program students attend seminars at MIT and visit U.S. companies. Students must commit to 9 months of full-time English study. The core and elective coursework curriculum also includes a thesis project involving one or more businesses or companies.

    Salvadorean American Leadership and Education Fund (SALEF)

    • SALEF offers scholarship opportunities in health and related careers underwritten by The California Wellness Foundation. The scholarships are specifically for those qualifying students attending community colleges in California. The scholarships are renewable and require community service for 4 consecutive years.

      The Father Rutilio Grande Scholarship is tailored for students of the religious, theology and philosophy studies programs or those with an emphasis in cultural, environmental or social justice studies.

    Community College Initiative Program (CCIP)

    • The CCIP is designed to enable individuals from selected countries in Central America to spend a year studying at a community college in the United States to earn a vocational certificate.

    Southern Nazarene University

    • The Ernest W. Quakenbush Memorial Scholarship is one of many scholarship opportunities offered by Southern Nazarene University. It is open to all undergraduate classifications. The scholarship funds are varied amounts of money, intended for students in need who reside in Central America or Mexico.
