Students must be attending an accredited 4-year college or university for either graduate or undergraduate study. A total of 208 awards are given annually.
Native American Financial Aid Grants are needs based and range from $500-$1,500 in award amount. A total of 45 awards are given each year with a deadline for application of April 15. An applicant must be a U.S. citizen and and Native American. This award is applicable for undergraduate study.
The Navajo Scholarship is based on need for those in the field of engineering, environmental studies, business, business management, health and education. The deadline for application is April 30. Scholarships are for full-time students who are members in the Navajo Tribe and are pursuing a degree that relates to the Navajo Nation, Salt River Project or the Navajo Generating Station. The applicant would be a junior or senior in high school, maintaining a G.P.A. of 3.0. This scholarship fund provides 15 awards on average a year.
The Denver-based American Indian College Fund is North America's largest provider of private scholarships for American Indian students. The fund provides more than 5,000 scholarships annually for students who will be studying at one of the 33 accredited tribal colleges and universities. The grant awards two fellowships to tribal college faculty that are working toward Ph.D. degrees in natural science, mathematics and engineering fields. The General Scholarship Program is for tribal colleges and programs, while the Specific Scholarship Program is for students studying at mainstream or tribal colleges in undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees. The deadline is May 31 for the upcoming year of award.
