The Raymond E. and Eleanor H. Loyd Term Scholarship offers its award to students from Tallassee, Alabama. However, the scholarship does go to students of Elmore County in Alabama if there are no qualified applicants from Tallassee. The award takes into account financial need.
Only residents of Alabama may apply for scholarships from the Chuck and Jo Moody Endowment. The endowment prefers students from Randolph High School and V.I. Grisson High School, but will consider qualified applicants from other schools in Madison County or the town of Huntsville.
Students from both Tennessee and Alabama may apply for the Dr. Charles Cockrell Endowment scholarships. However, the endowment gives priority to students in 22 Alabama counties such as Blount, Calhoun, Colbert and Walker. The five preferred Tennessee counties include Franklin, Giles and Lincoln.
Aerospace students who reside in Blount County are eligible for the Rodney Bradford Endowment. These students must demonstrate financial need to be considered for the award. If there are no qualified aerospace applicants for the award, the endowment will consider any engineering student from Blount County with financial need. If this second preference proves unsuccessful, the endowment then looks at any engineering student in the state of Alabama who shows financial need.
The Willie T. Grant Annual Scholarship gives its first preference to the city schools of Birmingham, Alabama.If there are no qualified applicants, the scholarship will look at students from Jefferson and Shelby counties. Eligible students must be enrolled or plan to enroll in the university's Minority Engineering Program.
The George W. Whitmire Endowment Fund gives its only preference for its scholarship to National Merit Scholars.
One of the few scholarships specifically for non-Alabama residents, the Becky and Ed Lewis Endowment scholarship requires applicants have a minimum of 30 on the ACT test.
