The U.S. Department of Homeland Security offers scholarships to undergraduate students who are pursuing degrees in chemical engineering or a related field. Sophomores and juniors with a minimum 3.3 GPA are eligible to apply. Qualifying students receive a full tuition scholarship for up to two years as well as a monthly stipend of $1,000 for up to nine months per year. Additionally, students receive a $5,000 stipend for participating in a mandatory summer internship program. After graduation, students are required to work for one year at an agency or institution approved by the Department of Homeland Security in a research field related to their degree.

The American Chemical Society Scholars Program is open to minority chemical engineering students of African-American, Hispanic/Latino or American Indian heritage. College freshmen, sophomores and juniors enrolled full-time at accredited institutions are eligible to apply. Awards are granted based on academic achievement, career goals, leadership abilities and financial need. The amount of individual scholarships vary and students may receive up to a maximum of $5,000.

The Dr. Wesley Eckenfelder Jr. Scholarship program is open to junior, senior and graduate students who are pursuing degrees in chemical engineering. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA to be considered and as part of the application process, must submit a statement of career goals regarding the chemical engineering field. Selected students will receive a one-time scholarship worth $3,000.

The John J. McKetta Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded to junior and senior chemical engineering students who are planning to pursue a career in the chemical engineering process industries. Students must be a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, possess a minimum 3.0 GPA, attend an Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology-accredited college or university and be nominated for the award by their AIChe student chapter adviser. Selected students will receive a one-time scholarship award of $5,000.

The Nicholas P. Chopey Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to undergraduate students majoring in chemical engineering at the University of Virginia, University of Kansas, State University of New York-Buffalo, Columbia University and Rutgers University. Third-year students who are enrolled full-time may apply and awards are granted based on academic performance, leadership skills, extracurricular activities, community involvement and career goals. The amount of the award varies based on the availability of funding.
