KSU offers an online Master of Science in Chemical Engineering program which delivers courses to students via an online platform. Online chemical engineering courses are on an asynchronous schedule which provides students with archived lectures, thus allowing them to log in and learn whenever they choose. Students also have access to discussion forums in which both peers and instructors communicate about learning issues. Physical learning materials, such as CD-ROM-based lectures and videotapes, are provided as supplemental resources. KSU does not differentiate between online degrees and those earned on-campus on diplomas, giving online students the same credentials as those students who learn traditionally.

NCSU offers an online Master of Science in Chemical Engineering degree programs, which is one of many engineering degrees offered online by NCSU. Archived courses are streamed using a centralized learning management system, and students have the flexibility to view lectures and learning materials at their convenience. The online platform provides students with access to assignments, library resources, student support services and communication channels (including discussion forums) through which students and professors discuss and debate material. Online students at NCSU receive instruction from the same engineering faculty who teach on-campus, and online degrees are identical to those earned by on-campus students.

UND offers an online Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering program which is accredited by ABET, Inc. -- the independent organization charged with accrediting engineering and technology undergraduate degrees. Courses are delivered on an asynchronous format, allowing students to view lectures whenever it is most convenient for them. UND provides online lectures which are delivered on-campus in the classroom and digitally recorded, thus giving students the same instructional experience as on-campus students. Online chemical engineering students at UND are required to attend yearly summer lab sessions in Grand Forks, ND, which last approximately one week.
