California State University in Fullerton (CSUF) offers an online master of science degree in software engineering. CSUF emphasizes a process-oriented approach to software development (as opposed to object-oriented development). The intention is to develop software for problem-solving applications; in object-oriented programs, the applications are preset configurations set by the programmer, rather than adaptive (process-oriented).
The program is designed to last approximately two years and requires 30 credit hours for completion. Core courses include areas such as software process definition; software design and architecture; software maintenance and systems; and software standards and requirements. Other courses taken include those in the areas of advanced software engineering management and software process evaluation.
