Online Structural Engineering Degrees

Structural engineering is a subspecialty of civil engineering and refers to the advanced design and analysis of physical structures such as buildings. Many schools throughout the United States offer online distance-learning programs in civil engineering with a specialized emphasis in or a significant portion of coursework related to structural engineering.
  1. Missouri University of Science and Technology

    • The Missouri University of Science and Technology offers an online graduate certificate in contemporary structural engineering with coursework in structural analysis, advanced steel and concrete structure design, applied mechanics and structural dynamics. Applicants may hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree in any field but must maintain an average grade of B or better to receive the certificate. A Master of Science in Civil Engineering is also offered with specialized coursework in environmental, structural and geotechnical engineering. Structural engineering course topics include reinforced and high-performance concrete, cold-formed steel, fiber-reinforced polymer composites, the seismic behavior of structures and damage detection. Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or with substantial coursework in mathematics, science and engineering with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
