The degree covers four broad areas within the field of biomedical engineering: design and data analysis, materials engineering, structure and functions of biomaterials and material issues in mechanical design. The program requires 30 credit hours for completion. All courses are in an online format. The University of Southern California offers an online master's degree in the field of biomedical engineering, as well as master's degrees in other engineering specialties. Students may take biomedical engineering courses online or on-campus. The program requires 28 credit hours to complete. Required courses include signal and system analysis, physiological control systems, advanced topics in biomedical systems and advanced studies of the nervous system.
