Colorado State University is located in Fort Collins, Colorado and offers a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering. The program is available entirely online, and students are required to complete 30 credits. Students are required to complete courses in materials engineering, material issues, mechanical design, digital signal processing, and structure and function of biomaterials. The college uses a software program called RamCT, which offers students a chance to download course materials, submit assignments and watch streaming videos.
Located in West Lafayette, Indiana, Purdue University offers a Master of Engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering online. The goal of the program is to provide students with the necessary technical and scientific skills needed to work in biomedical engineering. Courses in the program include orthopedic biomechanics, tissue engineering, biomaterials, dynamics of human motion and regulatory compliance of biomedical devices. Professors and teachers communicate through discussion boards, chat rooms, instant messaging and e-mail.
Stanford University is located in northern California and offers an online master's degree program in biomedical informatics. Prerequisite courses include calculus, computer programming, biology or biostatistics. Students are required to take 15 courses in translational bioinformatics, computational genomics, programming abstractions, computational molecular biology and programming methodology. In order to be eligible for the online program, students must be employed full time throughout the duration of the program.
IUPUI offers a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering technology that focuses on the installation and repair of medical equipment. Many of the courses in the program are delivered through a virtual Internet classroom called 'Oncourse.' Online courses in the program include applied human biology, regulations and patient safety, radiographic systems, and technology and special patient population. Students also must complete a senior project in collaboration with a faculty member.
