Maori Nursing Scholarships

Maori are the indigenous people of New Zealand. Maori practice traditional medicine among their iwi, or cultural tribes. Smoking and obesity are pervasive problems and diabetes is rampant among Maori people. Maori are underrepresented in mainstream health-care delivery. Nursing scholarships, established by the government and private organizations, encourage Maori to get involved in the health-care system.
