Grants for Tennessee Residents

There are many grants available for Tennessee residents. There are scholarships through schools, corporations, private donors, charities and non-profit organizations. Thanks to the generosity of these companies and people, finding a way to pay for school has never been easier.There are grants for specific areas of study, merit-based awards for the academically inclined and need-based grants for those that demonstrate financial need.
  1. Tennessee Hope Scholarship

    • The Tennessee Hope Scholarship is offered by the Tennessee government to deserving first-time undergraduate students. To qualify, you must have an ACT score of at least 21 or an SAT score of at least 980, be an entering freshman and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The award grants $4,000 for four-year colleges and $2,000 for two-year colleges.

    Ned McWherter Scholars Program Grant

    • The Ned McWherter Scholars Program Grant is offered by the Tennessee state government to a deserving high school senior entering his or her first year of college study. To qualify, you must be a Tennessee resident enrolled full-time in an accredited Tennessee college or university, have a minimum ACT score of 29 or a minimum SAT score of 1280 and have a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. This grant is highly competitive; only the students ranked at the top of their class need apply. The award amount is $6,000 per academic year.

    Tennessee Student Assistance Award

    • The Tennessee Student Assistance Award is offered to a deserving, financially needy Tennessee resident by the Tennessee government. To qualify, you must have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of 2100 or less, maintain an above average GPA and an at least moderate level of academic success and attend an accredited Tennessee college or university full or part-time. The award amount varies based on the individual needs of the student.

    Wilder-Naifeh Technical Skills Grant

    • The Wilder-Naifeh Technical Skills Grant is offered to any Tennessee resident studying at a Tennessee Technology Center. To qualify, you must be a Tennessee resident for at least one year prior to applying. In certain cases, students who get the Wilder-Naifeh Technical Skills Grant can also apply for the HOPE Scholarship. The award amount is $2,000.
