This grant is designed to give tuition assistance to Florida residents who are undergraduate students and are attending private, not-for-profit Florida colleges or universities. This grant program is decentralized, meaning that the individual college or university decides upon the application procedures, deadlines and each student's eligibility. Students should apply at the financial aid office of their college or university. As with all federal or state sponsored student financial aid, to be eligible the student must not owe a repayment or be in default under any state or federal grant, loan, or scholarship program unless they have made and had approved arrangements to repay.
FSAG is a need-based grant program for Florida residents seeking undergraduate degrees. The FSAG is also a decentralized program. Students must also be U.S. citizens (or eligible noncitizens) and if approved, will receive awards based on whether they are half-time, 3/4 or full-time students. Students need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered. The link for the FAFSA website is listed in the Resources section. Students that have excelled in high school may also be eligible for the Talented Twenty Program. This program guarantees those students that graduate in the top 20 percent of their senior class admission to one of the 11 state universities in Florida and also gives them priority funding for the FSAG program.
Just as its name indicates, this grant is for students who have parents that did not receive a baccalaureate or higher degree. The grant is also need-based and only for U.S. citizens (or eligible noncitizens). Students must also be enrolled at half-time (six credit hours or more) to be eligible, and not previously received a baccalaureate degree. Apply at the financial aid office of the college or university, and the FAFSA will also be required. You can access your application status and award history of Florida state grants, scholarships, and applications at the Florida Student Financial Aid website. The link is listed in the Resources section.
