The mission of Los Padres Foundation is to aid disadvantaged metropolitan youth of Puerto Rican and Latino descent to "realize their full human potential through education and community service." Eligible candidates are evaluated on academic achievement, strength of character and community service. The College Tuition Assistance program and Second Chance program award renewable $2,000 grants to university students. The Gilbert Rios Memorial Award provides $5,000 grants to graduate students.
High school students interested in post-secondary education may participate in the Vision and Keeping the Vision program, which provides tutoring and mentoring services.
