The South Carolina Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention and Achievement (CERRA) makes scholarship money available to South Carolina education majors through the Teaching Fellows Program. These scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors who wish to pursue a career as a teacher. Teaching fellows are provided with $6,000 worth of assistance per year for up to four years. While in the program, a student must maintain a grade point average of at least 2.75, must attend school on a full-time basis and must attend summer enrichment programs. A scholarship recipient is also required to work as a teacher in South Carolina for a year for each year of support received.

The South Carolina First Steps organization provides continuing education scholarships to South Carolina teachers involved in child care through the T.E.A.C.H. scholarship program. T.E.A.C.H. scholarships may be used to pay for the cost of tuition, textbooks and even travel. Students who are working toward an early childhood development credential must work at least 20 hours per week in a child care facility. Students working toward an associate degree must work a minimum of 30 hours per week at a child care facility. To be eligible, a student working as a teacher at a child care facility must earn less than $14.45 per hour, while a student working as a director must earn less than $15 per hour.

The South Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (SCCTM) provides scholarship assistance to education majors through its Preservice Scholarship Program. SCCTM Preservice Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,500. To be eligible, a student must be committed to teaching mathematics in the state of South Carolina, must not be a current teacher, must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0, as well as a 3.0 grade point average for all mathematics classes, and must be no more than one year away from student teaching at the time of application. The annual deadline for application is September 15.
