The American Association of Physics Teachers provides scholarship assistance to future high school physics teachers through the Barbara Lotze Scholarships for Future Teachers. Barbara Lotze Scholarships are awarded in amounts of up to $2,000 per year and may be renewable for up to four years of support. To be eligible, a student must be a citizen of the United States, attending school in the United States, and enrolled or planning to enroll in a program to prepare for a career as a high school physics teacher. The Florida Fund for Minority Teachers provides financial assistance to secondary education majors who are residents of Florida through its scholarship program. FFMT Minority Teacher Education Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $4,000 per year. To be eligible, a student must be a Florida resident, belong to a minority ethnic group, and attend a participating FFMT college or university. Once enrolled, a student must maintain a grade point average of at least 2.5 and commit to working in Florida public schools for at least one year per year of support they received through this program. The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) provides scholarship support to future high school math teachers through its Prospective Secondary Teacher Course Work Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded in amounts of up to $10,000. To be eligible, a student must be a current college sophomore pursuing a degree leading to a career as a math teacher at the secondary level. The annual deadline for application is May 6.
