How to Cite the King James Version

Surprisingly, most report formats do not require the author to include the Bible on the list of cited references. The only style that requires you to list your King James version Bible is MLA, the format developed by the Modern Language Association of America. All referenced sources must be cited on the last page of the research paper, called the "Works Cited" page. Even though you have to cite the Bible in MLA, you do not have to cite the specific verse and page you referenced.

Instructions

    • 1

Set your margins. The first line of the citation in your "Works Cited" is set to the far left. Set the lines after that to be indented five spaces. In most word processing software, drag the bottom arrow on the ruler five spaces to the right.

    • 2

Enter, in italics, the full title of the Bible. This may be "The Holy Bible," "The Holy Bible Complete King James Bible" or any other variation of the title of the Bible. Add a period after the title.

    • 3

Enter the publication information. Include the editor's name, if applicable, and then a period. Enter the location of publication -- a colon -- then the publisher -- followed by a comma -- then the year of publication and a period.

    • 4

Type "Print" after the publication information -- then add a period.
