Nurse anesthesia programs are clinical specialty master's programs for nurses and are offered by schools nationwide. Universities offering these programs should follow standards provided by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs. Nurses can sit for an examination at the completion of this program to become certified as nurse anesthetists.

    • The University of Southern California, Cal State University Fullerton and Gonzaga University have well known Nurse Anesthesia programs on the west coast. Cal State Fullerton offers one of the shorter Nurse Anesthesia programs with a duration of 24 months.

    Prominent Accredited Nurse Anesthesia Schools in the Midwest

    • The Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, University of Michigan, University of North Dakota and Mount Marty College have established Nurse Anesthesia programs in the Midwest. The University of Michigan also has a shorter 24-month program.
