Trover Health System/Murray State University has a nurse anesthesia program that is geared toward teaching and retaining students in the rural areas of the state. Students are trained at two area hospitals and this full-time program takes seven semesters to complete. Interested candidates must gain acceptance to Murray State University's nursing department, hold a bachelor's degree in nursing, have at least a 3.0 grade point average for bachelor's degree applicants and 3.5 for master's degree applicants, and have one year of critical care experience. In addition to these requirements, applicants must have three letters of recommendation and a Kentucky registered nurses license. This highly competitive admission process will determine the top applicants that receive an interview.

Lincoln Memorial University has a 28-month nurse anesthesia program that has 88 hours of classwork and six semesters of clinical training. This program is located within five miles of the state of Kentucky. Interested students must have a bachelor's degree in nursing, a 3.0 grade point average, a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score of at least 1000 and have three recommendation letters from a professor, a supervisor and a professional in the anesthesia field. Also needed for the application process is one year of adult critical care experience and a Tennessee registered nurses license. If accepted to the program, students must keep CPR, immunizations, health insurance and malpractice insurance current.

Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia has a 28-month full-time nurse anesthesia program in a Christian environment that is less than 35 miles from Kentucky. This Seventh-Day Adventist school focuses on a family-centered teaching style to train students in the field of anesthesia. Interested applicants must have a bachelor's degree in nursing or a science field, one year of critical care experience in the past three years, a GRE score of 1000, a 3.0 grade point average and have taken a chemistry class in the past. In addition, an application, a personal statement of why you want to attend, five references, all official transcripts and a Tennessee nursing license are needed for the admission packet.
