North Seattle Community College has a program for uncertified anesthesia technicians who are currently in the field and want to prepare to become certified. All courses can be taken online, and students can choose to complete the entire program or complete only some of the classes. The program consists of six courses, including critical care procedures, basic pharmacology for anesthesia and clinical monitoring. To qualify for admission, students must show proof of at least 2,600 hours of working experience as an anesthesia technician.

Sanford-Brown awards both an associate of applied science degree and a certificate in anesthesia technology at four campuses across the country. The certificate can be achieved at the Iselin, New Jersey campus, and the degree is awarded at campuses in Houston, Pittsburgh and St. Peters, Missouri. Both programs cover cardiac monitoring, assisting in an emergency and pharmacology. Sanford-Brown gives students a classroom lecture education, and also integrates laboratory work and a clinical externship into the programs.

Milwaukee Area Technical College awards an associate of applied science degree in anesthesia technology that is comprised of 67 total credits of study. Students complete general education courses, as well as major specific courses. Topics of instruction related to anesthesia technology include medical terminology, anesthesia technology instrumentation and physical principles of medicine. Students also complete a clinical rotation during their studies, which includes placement at several area hospitals.
