South Texas College, in the city of the McAllen, offers students two main courses of study: computer and informational technologies and technology management. Courses include microcomputer applications, fundamentals of networking technologies, information security, data communications and logistics management. After each program is successfully completed, students receive a bachelor's degree in the respective course.
Down the road from South Texas College, New Start Offers provides training in four career focuses: health technician, nurse assistant, home health aide and physical therapy technician. New Start School does not require students to have a GED or high school diploma to begin a career course.
The Vogue College of Cosmetology is a family business operating since the 1960s, and offers courses leading to a professional career in beauty services. Vogue's courses focus primarily on learning the arts of cosmetology, nail technology and esthetics.
The South Texas Vocational Technical Institute McAllen campus offers career training in health care and business and computers. Students enrolled in the school's health care program have the option to choose from six studies: dental assisting, medical administrative assisting technology, medical assisting, nurse assisting, pharmacy technician and professional massage therapy. In the business and computers program, students can choose to focus on computer accounting or paralegal/legal assisting.
