Located in Grand Prairie, Lincoln College of Technology's welding training program offers instruction in welding that can be used in a variety of fields. The certificate program consists of training in the areas of basic arc welding, mig welding, plate welding and pipe welding. Students will receive a certification card issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration after completion of a 10-hour safety course. Job placement assistance is available to graduates of the program and tuition assistance is available for students who qualify.
Based out of The Woodlands, Lone Star College offers both certificate programs and associate degrees in welding technology. Certificate programs require from eight to 40 clock hours of instruction depending on program selection; it includes training in ultrasonic testing, pipe welding and arc welding. Associate degree programs require 71 clock hours of instruction and offers in-depth training in the fields of shielded metal arc welding, blueprint reading for welders, welding metallurgy and introductory chemistry. Career placement assistance is available and Lone Star College will accept credits from select colleges and universities.
Houston Central Community College provides comprehensive certificate and associate degree programs in welding that cater to the schedule of adult working students. The welding technology program provides introductory and intermediate welding courses in structural, pipe and sheet metal welding designed to prepare students for entry level careers in the welding industry. Houston Community College offers both full and part-time enrollment and in-house tuition installments are available for students who qualify.
Based in Amarillo, Amarillo College's welding technology program is a certificate based syllabus that enables students who successfully complete the program to become registered with the American Welding Society (AWS). Coursework consists of 55 clock hours of instruction and includes training in welding fundamentals, thermal cutting, arc welding, technical algebra and trigonometry. Amarillo College accepts credit transfers from other accredited colleges and career counseling services are provided upon request. Financial aid including Federal Pell grants are available for students who qualify and veteran loan programs and vocational rehabilitation tuition assistance funds are also accepted.
