Front Range Community College's Larimer campus in Fort Collins offers a two-year associate degree in welding technology. The program allows students to specialize in gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, pipe code welding, sculptural welding and shielded metal arc welding. Prospective students over the age of 17 are automatically admitted to the college, although admissions to the welding technology program is not guaranteed.

Colorado Springs' Pikes Peak Community College allows students to obtain their associate degree in welding, with the chance to focus on pipe welding, structural welding or a combination of pipe and structural welding. Unlike some programs, Pikes Peak requires students to take specific career preparation courses in addition to their welding classes, including computer literacy and career math. Admission is open to students 17 and older; no high school degree is required.

Trinidad State's welding curriculum is unique in that its program--known as EPIC--encompasses energy production and industrial construction in addition to welding skills. The campus, located in Trinidad, prepares welding students in the skill areas of structural, gas and pipe welding, while also allowing them to take classes in diesel engines, hydraulic systems and bulldozers. Admissions are open to students 16 and older.

The welding courses at Aims Community College take several forms. Aspiring welders can study for their associate degree in welding technology, studying such fields as flux cored arc welding and shielded metal arc welding. Practicing welders wishing to receive their certificate as a welding technician can take a stripped-down version of the welding curriculum, and recreational welders can take welding problems courses that are customized around their specific needs.
Students interested in pursuing their associate degree are required to have met the college's minimum ACT/SAT requirements or taken college-level math and English courses. As of 2010, the ACT requirement is a minimum score of Reading 17, Sentence Skills 18, Math 19; the SAT requirement is Verbal 430, Math 460.

Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood offers, in conjunction with Warren Technical High School, an associate degree in welding. Students can also earn certificates in ox-fuel welding and cutting (OFW and OFC), shield metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux core arc welding (FCAW) and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). Morgan Community College does not offer degrees in welding. It does, however, allow students to obtain several welding certificates. Topics available for certification include shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc and gas metal arc welding and advanced welding skills. Such programs, depending on the student's course load, can take less than a year to complete.

Colorado School of Welding (CSW) takes an innovative approach to welding education. Its courses are 40 hours long and are completed over the course of a week. Classes are offered for both new and experienced welders, as well as for the hobbyist. CSW is a for-profit school and a division of Colorado engineering firm Vohnic. Students can study metal arc, tungsten arc and pipe welding as well as welding engineering.

The Center for Welding, Joining, and Coatings Research is a division of the Colorado School of Mines (CSM). While a full degree in welding is not offered, there are many opportunities for students studying mechanical or materials engineering to research the science of welding. Through the welding technology courses and research opportunities offered, students can work to develop stronger and more efficient welding methods. Courses are open to undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. students. Admissions to CSM is competitive, and some of the criteria considered for potential students include GPA, test scores and extracurricular activities.
