Four Year Culinary Arts Schools

When it comes to studying culinary arts, there are many different programs available. Some focus on accelerated learning, and others offer a well-rounded, liberal arts program. Some four-year programs offer majors in culinary arts management, baking and pastry arts or restaurant management. Earning a bachelor's degree in culinary arts can result in better career options.

    • Johnson & Wales University has a four-year culinary arts program that emphasizes classic cooking techniques, culinary trends and nutritional analysis. There are four campuses where you can earn a bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts and Food Service Management. The original campus is in Providence, Rhode Island, and the others are located in North Miami, Denver and Charlotte. The bachelor's degree program is also available online. Another program offered on all campuses is Baking and Pastry Arts and Food Service Management. The Food Service Entrepreneurship program is only offered on the Providence campus.

    The International Culinary School at The Art Institutes

    • The Art Institute has the largest system of culinary programs in the United States, with 35 locations across the country. The Art Institute's four-year program emphasizes cooking fundamentals as well as regional and international cuisines. Hands-on training is part of the curriculum that also focuses on techniques and global trends. Not all locations offer the same programs and credential levels, but 18 of the locations offer the four-year program, and it is also available online.

    Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts

    • Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts is a well-known culinary arts institution with 17 locations in the United States. Two of those locations, Orlando, Florida and Scottsdale, Arizona, offer a bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts that focuses on culinary techniques and the latest trends in global cuisine. Le Cordon Bleu also offers this bachelor's degree online.

    The New England Culinary Institute

    • The New England Culinary Institute offers bachelor's degrees in Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry Arts and Hospitality and Restaurant Management. These programs provide students the opportunity to concentrate on topics of special interest in the food and beverage industry. Intimate learning environments, with a very low student to teacher ratio, are provided for students to learn the classic techniques of culinary arts and entrepreneurship. The curriculum combines a well-rounded education with hands-on experience.
