The Jobs for Youth program is designed for those between the ages of 17 and 24 who are looking to earn their GEDs and want to take review classes. The classes meet two hours per day, five days per week for 12 weeks and prepare students for the exams, as well as for the transition into employment or higher education. The classes include a pre-GED assessment to determine the student's proficiency in reading comprehension, math and test-taking strategies found on the actual exam. The program also assists its students with registering for the exam, and helps with computer skills and touring colleges.
Students must read at an 8th-grade reading level or better to enroll in the GED program; an assessment is given before you enroll for the course.

On top of its regular undergraduate curriculum, Truman College offers free adult education at its campus for English as a Second Language programs, citizenship classes and GED preparation classes.
The GED preparation classes are offered in both English and Spanish to accommodate as many students as possible. The length of the courses will depend on each student's reading and math scores on initial assessments, previous education and time availability. The program is designed to get students prepared to take the GED exam.
Truman also offers an Adult Basic Education (ABE) program, which provides instruction for adults who do not score high enough to qualify for a GED course. The ABE program and a variety of literacy classes prepare adults to move into GED-level work.
