Scholarships for Massage Therapy School

Obtaining a massage therapy certificate costs far less than a traditional college degree, but the cost can still be beyond the reach of many students. There are many massage therapy schools with locations around the country that offer financial aid opportunities.
  1. Cortiva Institute

    • The Cortiva Institute has schools in Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Washington. Most Cortiva schools offer two scholarships: The Founders' Scholarship, which is for $1,000, and the residents' scholarship of $500. The scholarship at the schools Pennsylvania location is $2,500, and is awarded each term. Applicants must submit a 500-word essay on their career choice and complete an interview with the admissions department.

    Bastyr University

    • Bastyr University, located in Kenmore, Washington, offers scholarships for new graduate and professional students based on financial need and prior academic achievement. These scholarships range from $500 to $3000. There is a more specific licensed massage therapist scholarship for students enrolling in the naturopathic doctoral or master of science in acupuncture and Oriental medicine programs for $1,500 and is renewable based on the recipient's academic performance. In order to apply for the massage therapist scholarship students must show proof of graduation from a school accredited by the Commission on Massage Training Accreditation. The basic scholarship does not require an application.

    Swedish Institute

    • The New York City-based Swedish Institute offers three scholarships for its massage therapy programs. Named in honor of three individuals who have contributed to the profession, they are: The Patricia J. Eckardt Scholarship Fund, honoring the former president of the Swedish Institute; The Richard G. Gilbert Scholarship Fund; and The Jennifer A. Plumhoff Scholarship Fund. An application, available at the beginning of each semester, must be completed in order to qualify.
