• Accredited by the Higher Learning commission and offering up more than 75 associate degree programs in a wide variety of trades, the Cincinnati State Technical and Community College also features a Respiratory Care Technology program. This respiratory therapy course, which typically takes up to 22 months to complete, instructs students on traditional and non-traditional methodologies and skills in respiratory therapy and care. Life-support management skills, diagnostic testing procedures, bedside pulmonary care, long-term diagnostic measurements and pulmonary rehabilitation will all be covered in the intensive respiratory care technology course. After successfully completing the course, students can obtain a limited permit to practice as a respiratory therapist as well. Candidates who pass the registry examination administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care after graduating from this school are recognized as Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRTs).

Kettering College of Medical Arts

• Located near Dayton, the Kettering College of Medical Arts is a co-educational college that is owned and operated by the Kettering Medical Center. First opened to the public in 1967, this school provides dormitories on campus for all of its incoming student population. The respiratory care program featured at this college instructs students on the rehabilitation skills needed to assist patients suffering from lung diseases and heart diseases. When students at the Kettering College of Medical Arts complete both semesters of the respiratory care program, they receive an associate degree in respiratory care and are eligible for taking specific examinations offered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

North Central State College

• Founded in 1961 and originally known as the Mansfield School of Technology, North Central State College is situated in Mansfield, Ohio. This college offers students associate degrees and certification programs in a wide variety of courses, including technology, work force development and computer engineering. The respiratory care program featured at North Central State College takes more than 90 hours to complete and contains such classes as Introduction to Respiratory Therapy, cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology techniques, hands-on training with respiratory therapy equipment and specific procedures and clinical education theories and practices. Other classes included in the respiratory therapy program are the pathology I and II class and the respiratory therapy administration class in which students are taught quality assurance techniques while administering respiratory treatment to a patient.
