These are five scholarships given to students during their third year of medical school. The students have to show leadership skills by addressing educational, societal and health care needs of minorities in the United States. Plus, they should show leadership in terms of eliminating inequality in medical and health education. Every November, the five recipients will receive $5,000. Each candidate must be a U.S. citizen, entering the third year of study at a LCME-accredited U.S. medical school, and must complete the nomination packet.

Formerly titled Caring for Community, this program awards students who use their professional abilities throughout their community. This means that the minority students must exercise their volunteer efforts in the town or city they live in. Medical students completely run this program, which makes it unique. There are three types of grants that can be awarded. They are new project grants, supplemental grants and non-continuous grants. Eligible students will receive a grant for up to four years of their medical education. They can earn between $3,000 and $30,000.
