At Brown Mackie College, students in the Pharmacy Technology program learn how to work under the direction of pharmacists in offices or medical settings. The curriculum focuses on medical administrative practices, anatomy and physiology, pharmacy procedure and medical terminology. No prerequisites are required at Brown Mackie. Courses are offered one class at a time for a period of one month. Although in the long run it can take up to two years to complete the program, it is a convenient option for full-time workers.

Daymar College Pharmacy technicians are trained to help licensed pharmacists provide medication to patients. They also learn to prepare prescriptions, maintain patient profiles, prepare claim forms, and update inventory of all prescription and over-the-counter drugs. At Daymar the program is slated to take between 12 and 18 months to complete and requires no prerequisites.

National College offers a one-year program designed to prepare students for employment as a pharmacy technician. The curriculum teaches students how to assist licensed pharmacists in the duties of ordering, stocking, and packaging prescription and medications. There is also coursework involving recordkeeping, inventory control and processing insurance claims. No prerequisites are required to attend National College.
