The Macomb Emergency Medical Services program teaches the skills and knowledge to work as an entry-level EMT. Students can earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Emergency Medical Services-Paramedic/Firefighter or Emergency Medical Services-EMT/ Paramedic. Students get pass/fail marks instead of grades and must pass all clinical courses to graduate.

Oakland Community College provides a state-approved training program for EMT students. There are three options from which to choose. Basic EMT training is offered five times a year, according to the college. The EMT-Intermediate program is offered only once a year. Courses required under this program include anatomy and physiology, or pathophysiology. The Advanced EMT is known as the paramedic program and also is offered only once a year. Completion of all programs enables eligible students to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians exam to become licensed in Michigan.

Students at the Wayne County Community College District can earn an Associate of Applied Science, Certificate of Completion; or a College Certification in EMT training. The curriculum combines the skills and education needed to successfully perform basic, intermediate or advanced medical training. In addition, the WCCCD programs allow you to become eligible to take the national exam in Michigan.
