  1. Northwest Louisiana Technical School

    • Northwest Louisiana Technical School has five campuses including Campus Dean in Shreveport. The school as been training individuals since 1936 and is now located on North Market Street. The school offers programs in Information technology, business, health services and transportation. You can either be a high school student or an adult to receive education at the school and must submit official transcripts from your previous school. Tuition is calculated by credit hours and the total for one credit would be $70.25 for residents and $102 for non residents. There is also financial aid and grant options.

    American Commercial College

    • Located on Knight Street, the American Commercial College in Shreveport helps train students for future careers. Some programs they offer are business accounting, data entry, medical coding and billing, healthcare administrative and medical transcription. If interested it is recommended you make an appointment with an admission advisor for an interview. Requirements for admission are: a high school diploma or GED. New classes start every five weeks. Financial aid and grants are available for those who are eligible. The school's job placement service have been successful over the last 50 years and works closely with major employers. The college is an accredited member of the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools in Washington, D.C, and approved by the Louisiana Board of Regents and the Texas Workforce Commission.

    Ayers Career College

    • Established in 1953, Ayers Career College offers medical training programs in medical assistance, pharmacy technician, medical billing and coding and heating and cooling. Located on Jewella Avenue, the college provides a comfortable learning environment for its students with air-conditioned rooms, well-lit classrooms and a large 20,000 square foot building. Applying can be done online. Financial aid and grants are available for eligible students. The college is accredited by the Commission of the Council on Occupational Education and approved by the Louisiana Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, Veterans Education and Training, the U.S. Department of Education, the Workforce Investment Act and the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. In addition, it's licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Regents and Proprietary Schools.

    Bossier Parish Technical School

    • Bossier Parish Technical School, located on North Market Street, has been part of the Louisiana Technical College campus since 1995 and works with them to offer dual credit. Programs include: auto body repair, carpentry, culinary arts, graphic arts and welding. Tuition and bus transportation is free for high school students in the Bossier Parish School District. Students can choose mornings or afternoons to attend the school as long as its two class periods a day. To be admitted, you have to be 16 years of age and take the entrance exam.

    Caddo Career & Technology Center

    • The Caddo Career & Technology Center is located on Union Avenue is an extension school that provides students career and technical programs for future careers. Some of the 24 classes it offers are carpentry, digital media, fashion design, dental assistant and welding. The center also helps students attain internships and jobs after they have completed their chosen program as well as featuring a dual enrollment program for high school students to earn a diploma and credits toward a degree or certification at the same time.
