The Deckbar Alternative School is part of the Jefferson Parish Public School System. The core function of the school is to be a "learning organization" that engages and challenges all students, every day. Their mission is to offer students individualized behavioral and academic assistance that is "necessary for the return of each student to his or her own school district" while receiving a quality education in grades two through six. The school has a dress code policy for uniforms and book bags.

The Allen Parish Alternative School is a small school located in Oberlin. It is available to area students in grades fourth through twelfth and is part of the Allen Parish Public School Board of Louisiana. Their is a dress code that prohibits the wearing of certain types of jewelry, shirts, belts, coats and sweaters, dresses, book bags and hats. The school year begins in late August, and ends in May. The school considers their students to be "partners" in education, and assures the school community that "we will do our best to help our students experience academic, social, and emotional growth."

The New Directions Alternative School in Covington is a non-sectarian, private alternative school for boys in grades fourth through twelfth. A small school with two teachers and a total school enrollment of about 22 students. This small student to teacher ratio allows students to receive individual attention for their emotional, social and academic needs. The school environment accommodates students with special needs and has a curriculum for special education. It serves students in the St. Tammany Parish School Board and surrounding area.
