PJ's College of Cosmetology offers an 1,800-hour cosmetology program, a 600-hour nail technician program and a 1,000-hour esthetic program. Students in the cosmetology learn hair design, skin care and manicuring, as well professional communication skills. The program is nationally accredited and financial aid and scholarships are available. Paul Mitchell The School prepares students to work in the cosmetology field and assists them in finding employment in the nearly 100,000 Paul Mitchell salons throughout the world. The School in Louisville teaches all of the skills needed to work in a salon environment and provides access to an extensive networking program. There are day and evening programs available and The School accepts financial aid.
Trend Setters Academy provides an 1,800-hour cosmetology course that prepares students for the Kentucky State Board cosmetology exam. Students go on to work at salon managers, hair stylists and colorists, product demonstrators and salon owners. Trend Setters also offers a 600-hour nail technology course and a 1,000-hour apprentice instructor course for licensed cosmetologists. Trend Setters accepts financial aid and provides job placement advisement.
Jefferson Community and Technical College offers a cosmetology program that trains students in the theories of skin, hair and nail care. Students also get hands-on practice applying these techniques so they are prepared to work in a salon environment when they graduate. Students receive 1000 hours of instruction and are eligible to take the Kentucky Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetology examination. Jefferson also offers a Certificate for Nail Technician, Esthetician and an apprenticeship opportunity for students with a desire to teach cosmetology.
Empire Beauty School has four different Louisville locations including Chenoweth, Hurstbourn, Highland and Dixie Highway, The school provides training in cosmetology, as well as cosmetology educator training for those who want to teach what they learn. Students study physiology, anatomy and hair cutting, designing and coloring. Empire works closely with the Regis Corporation, providing graduates thousands of job opportunities at Regis Salons, MasterCuts, Supercuts and Jean Louis David. Students may also make contact with other salons during their education and graduates go on to work in a variety of salon environments.
