Empire Beauty Schools have four separate locations in New Hampshire, including Portsmouth, Laconia, Somersworth and Hooksett. The school's cosmetology programs offers students the opportunity to learn cutting-edge skills through both classroom and hands-on activities over the course of five phases. The Five Phases of Training begin with the most elementary concepts and then progress to more advanced techniques. Additionally, students have the opportunity to prepare for licensure via a Mock State Board evaluation. All Empire schools in New Hampshire hold accreditation through the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences.
New Hampshire's Keene Beauty Academy offers students a blend of traditional classroom-based instruction, hands-on practical guidance and video courses for a well-rounded approach to cosmetology training. Under instructor supervision, students have the opportunity to learn and practice on real clients in the school's student clinic. Cosmetology students receive the state-mandated 1,500 hours of training in areas such as color, perming, makeup, sanitation and cutting. Additionally, cosmetology students must take course work in professionalism, communications, business management, human relations and state laws. Classes start multiple times throughout the year including January, March, May, July, September and November.
Michael's School of Hair Design and Esthetics is New Hampshire's Paul Mitchell Partner School. As a Partner School, Michael's instructs cosmetology students in the Paul Mitchell Approach. This includes a fun learning environment with education grounded in theory of multiple intelligences. Multiple intelligence theory promotes student success through differing instruction techniques based on the student's individual talents and learning processes. The cosmetology curriculum is a three-phase program that starts at the core (or basic introduction), moves to the adaptive (applying basic core rules) and then progresses to the creative (expanding the knowledge gained through the other phases).
The New England School of Hair Design, located in West Lebanon, New Hampshire, offers a cosmetology degree program for interested students. Cosmetology curriculum includes both classroom and practical training, leading to licensure at the state level. Students may opt for a full- or part-time program or night or day courses. Students must complete the required 1,500 hours of training in order to qualify to sit for the state license exam. The program uses a variety of teaching techniques such as professional demonstrations, workshops, guest speaker lectures and client bookings.
