• The Academy of Healthcare Professionals has a dental assistant training program that teaches students chair-side skills, such as four-handed dentistry, tray setup and infection control procedures. Students will also learn dental terminology and how to deal with insurance procedures in addition to learning how to keep up with records and charting; dental x-rays and restorative techniques will also be part of the curriculum as will clinical skills in the specialties of periodontics, endodontics, orthodontics and prosthodontics. An externship is also part of the program where students may receive the opportunity for employment from the externship sites.

• The C. Mark Mann Dental Assisting School offers a dental assisting program that meets one day each week on Saturdays for a total of 10 weeks. The program is designed to teach students dental assisting skills which include sterilizing and disinfecting equipment in addition to learning how to make the patient comfortable while preparing them for treatment. Students will also learn other duties, such as removing sutures and excess adhesives, as well as office duties such as appointment setting, dealing with patient records and ordering dental supplies and materials.

• The Houston Dental Assistant School is located in Spring, Texas and offers a dental assistant program that provides students with hands-on training in a state-of-the-art dental office used for practice; this is a program that provides students with the skills needed for a dental assisting career.
