Texas School of Business offers a hands-on teaching approach. Students will learn skills that include instrument sterilization, equipment maintenance and four-handed dentistry. The program also includes instruction on handling dental emergencies and identifying different teeth. Texas School of Business has designed its program to prepare graduates to take the radiology certification exams that are required in the state of Texas.

The dental assisting certificate program at Houston Community College can be completed in 12 months. Curriculum includes instruction in both the classroom and the school's on-site labs. The school also places each student in a local dental office to gain hands-on experience during their studies. Before enrolling in the program students must complete a pre-requisite course that provides introductory information about health professions. The dental assisting program at Houston Community College is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

ATI Career Training Center has a campus in Houston that is an extension of the training center in North Richmond Hills, Texas. The program features instruction in laboratory techniques, front-office procedures and radiology. Four- and six-handed dentistry techniques are also covered. Students are afforded the opportunity to complete an externship at a local dentistry office during their studies. ATI Career Training Center is regulated in Texas by the Texas Workforce Commission.
