Dental Assistant Programs Abroad

Taking your dental assistant courses abroad allows you experience a different culture while training for a stable career. While your overseas education will qualify you to take a dental board test in your host country, you should check with your local state board of nursing in the U.S. to ensure you meet the requirements to be licensed stateside.
  1. CDI College

    • The 22-class Intra-Oral Dental Assistant program at CDI College is available in French and English at the college's Montreal campus and in English at campuses in British Columbia and Manitoba. The business, technology and health care-centered school is accredited by one or more of each province's respective educational governing boards. Training includes classroom lecture, laboratory studies and hands-on clinical work. Tuition financing is available.

    Dental Nursing Australia

    • Dental Nursing Australia is a registered training provider established in 1999. The dental assisting certificate IV is nationally accredited and was developed with collaborated input from dental professionals, the Australian Dental Association and Dental Assistants Education Council of Australia. There are five locations to choose from: Belont, Bunbury, Geraldton, Mandurah and South Perth. The one-year course begins in February and is divided into four 10-week terms with holidays and breaks. A portion of the curriculum is available in correspondence courses. International students may enroll at a 12-month tuition rate of $10,000.00 as of April, 2010.

    SAIT Polytechnic

    • The dental assistant program at SAIT Polytechnic is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada. The certificate program starts in the fall and takes three semesters, or about 10 months to complete. The application due date for the program is November 1. International students must apply for a study permit with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) upon receipt of their offer letter from the school. Students must pass the National Dental Assisting Examining Board exam to be registered to practice in a Canadian province. The tuition and fees were $6,477 and books and supplies were about $1,500 for the program in its entirety (as of April, 2010).
