• Penn Foster Career School offers an online program that covers clinical and administrative procedures. Although this program is online, the dental assistant must still be familiar with the tools available in a dentist's office. According to the Penn Foster website, students receive gloves, a protective mask, cotton rolls, syringes and other tools as learning aids. This school splits its course into instruction sets; students receive a new set when they have mastered the course material in the previous one.

University of North Dakota

• The University of North Dakota offers both clinical and administrative dental assistant programs. College credit is not available for these courses, as they provide vocational training for a specific job. Clinical courses cover subjects such as oral health and patient care.
