Schools for Carpet Installation

If you don't mind getting on your hands and knees, carpet installation may be the career for you. Aside from manual labor, carpet installation skills allow you to work independently, set your own hours and supplement your income.

While many people pursue an apprenticeship with a flooring company, several trade schools have carpet installation certification programs. Apprenticeships can take up to two years to complete, while trade school may take up to four years to finish.

Prior to starting a career in the flooring trade, it's advisable to complete a GED or high school. Math competency is helpful for measuring.

Since the application of tile and wood requires additional skills, wood and tile installers tend to make more money hourly. However, there is a greater demand for carpet than any other flooring. Carpet installers are paid hourly with various pay rates based on experience and location.
