Carpet Cleaning Schools

According to Clean Care Seminars, an estimated 9 percent of carpet cleaning job complaints result from the technician’s inability to properly explain fiber characteristics to the customer. This is the cause of many misunderstandings but it can be avoided with training. The Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) is given to carpet cleaning technicians and commercial carpet maintenance technicians who have completed the applicable carpet cleaning courses. Courses are taught in one to five days, depending on the instructor and the curriculum provided by the carpet cleaning school.
  1. School of Surface Technology

    • One carpet cleaning school approved by the IICRC is the School of Surface Technology, more popularly known in the industry as SST.

SST offers carpet cleaning technician classes that provide basic and intermediate knowledge and skills training on carpet construction, dyeing and fiber identification. A review of maintenance procedures for different issues such as spotting and cleaning chemistry, topical treatments and other carpet cleaning methods and techniques are also included in the course syllabus. All these meet the requirements of IICRC for a carpet cleaning technician certification. The course is also a prerequisite for the senior inspector’s course, which can also be taken at SST.

Other than regular carpet cleaning technician courses, SST also offers training on many flooring topics that are designed to improve the career of experts and technicians in the field of flooring and related trades.
